Beschreibung
Similar to the MultiPlus, the Quattro is a combined inverter and charger. Additionally, it can accept two AC inputs and automatically connect to the active source. Its many features include a true sine wave inverter, adaptive charging, hybrid PowerAssist technology, and several system integration features such as three-phase, split-phase, and parallel operation.

Two AC inputs and two AC outputs

The Quattro can be connected to two independent AC sources, such as shore power and a generator or two generators. The Quattro automatically connects to the active source. The main output has a no-break functionality. In the event of a mains failure or interruption of shore or generator power, the Quattro takes over the supply to the connected loads. This happens so quickly (less than 20 milliseconds) that computers and other electronic devices continue to operate without interruption. The second output is only active when AC power is available at one of the Quattro's inputs. This output can be used to connect loads that should not drain the battery, such as an air conditioner or water heater.

Unique PowerAssist function

The Quattro prevents overloading of a limited AC power source, such as a generator or shore power connection. First, the battery charge is automatically reduced when an overload would otherwise occur. The second stage increases the output of a generator or shore-side supply of power from the battery.

Virtually unlimited power thanks to parallel operation

Up to 6 Quattros can be operated in parallel for increased power. Three-phase or split-phase operation is also possible. Please check our datasheets to see which models have parallel, three-phase and split-phase capabilities.

Remote monitoring and control

When used in conjunction with a GX unit (e.g. Cerbo GX), the free VRM app and Free VRM Portal website allow you to monitor and control your multi and system(s) locally (LAN) or remotely via the Internet from anywhere in the world. Access can be from a phone, tablet, laptop or PC running a wide variety of operating systems. There is no end to the control options, from setting up your Quattro to automatically starting a backup generator and more..."

FAQ

Victron Quattro 48V series: superior energy management for professionals

You're not looking for a standard solution for a little solar power. You are planning a system that will reliably supply an entire property, a farm or a self-sufficient business. Your system works with 48V - the gold standard for high-performance lithium storage systems. You have several energy sources such as mains power and a backup generator and want them to be managed fully automatically.

This is exactly where the Victron Quattro 48V family comes in. It is the big brother of the MultiPlus and the undisputed control center for complex energy systems. Where other inverters capitulate when switching between generator and grid, the Quattro is just getting started.

What makes the Quattro 48V a legend

  • The two-input rule: the unique selling point. The Quattro has two independent AC inputs (e.g. public grid and a diesel generator). It recognizes fully automatically which source is active and switches over virtually without interruption.

  • Intelligent PowerAssist: Is your mains connection too weak for the heat pump or circular saw? The Quattro adds battery power at lightning speed and absorbs load peaks without blowing the fuse.

  • Blackout protection (UPS): In the event of a power failure, the Quattro takes over the entire supply in less than 20 milliseconds. Your IT, heating control system and sensitive electronics won't even notice that the mains power is off.

  • Optimized for 48V lithium systems: It is the perfect partner for storage systems from Pylontech, Voltsmile or BYD. Communication is seamless and ensures maximum battery life.

  • Pure power & scalability: From 5000 VA to a massive 15000 VA continuous power per device. And if that's not enough: connect up to 6 devices in parallel or set up a massive 3-phase system.

In focus: The Victron Quattro 48/8000/110-100/100

The Quattro 48/8000 is the "sweet spot" for many of our customers. It offers enough reserves for a modern, upmarket home without reaching the dimensions of industrial systems.

Why exactly this model?

  • 6.4 kW continuous power: This is the perfect basis for covering a heat pump and normal household consumption from the battery at the same time.

  • 110A charging power: This allows you to top up even larger storage units (e.g. a Voltsmile tower) in record time as soon as the sun is shining or the generator is running.

  • 100A transfer switch: This model can simply "pass through" a massive 23 kW of power from the grid. This is ideal for projects with high loads during normal operation that only need to be buffered in an emergency.

Stationary energy management: Why the Quattro 48V is the heart of your infrastructure

Anyone planning a 48V system is thinking big. This is not about flying cabling, but about a fixed installation in a house, a business or a self-sufficient project. The Quattro 48V manages the complexity of these systems through three intelligent levels.

Level 1: The intelligent mains switch (input management)

In the stationary world, the grid connection is often unreliable or too weak. Or you live completely off-grid and have to rely on several energy generators.
While other inverters require external switch boxes for a second source (e.g. a diesel genset), the Quattro already has the intelligence built in. In an ESS system, for example, it always prioritizes the solar power, uses the public grid if necessary and starts the generator fully automatically in an absolute emergency. All without manual intervention, all without flickering lights.

Level 2: The power boost (PowerAssist)

Modern consumers such as heat pumps or wallboxes generate enormous peak loads that often push the house connection to its limit. This is where the Quattro 48V acts as a buffer: it "monitors" the current flow at the mains input. If the main fuse threatens to blow, the Quattro shifts exactly the missing power from the battery to the household grid within milliseconds. It makes your grid connection artificially stronger.

Level 3: Load prioritization (two AC outputs)

In a 48V system, a power failure is not a problem - as long as you don't waste the energy. The Quattro has two AC outputs with different logic:

  • The UPS output (AC-Out-1): This is where the devices that keep your civilization going hang: Internet, heating pumps, lights and freezers. This output is absolutely uninterruptible.
  • The conditional output (AC-Out-2): Large consumers such as the pool or sauna hang here. This output is switched off immediately by the Quattro as soon as there is no more mains or generator. This leaves your valuable battery capacity reserved for the really important things.

What do these hard facts mean for your planning?

Behind the technical data in our table are real application possibilities. Here we use selected models to show you what power is available for your project:

  • Continuous power (W): Your insurance for everyday use. The Quattro 48/8000 delivers 6.4 kW of continuous power - that's more than enough power to supply a modern family home, including power-intensive appliances such as an oven, dishwasher and washing machine, at the same time.

  • Peak power (W): The decisive starting torque. With a peak output of 16 kW, the Quattro 48/8000 effortlessly masters the extreme inrush currents of large garden pumps, air conditioning compressors or heavy tools, at which standard inverters would immediately capitulate.

  • Charging current (A): Powerful charging power for short generator runtimes. The Quattro 48/8000 pumps up to 110 amps directly into your storage unit. This means that an empty 10 kWh battery bank is fully ready for use again in less than two hours - a massive fuel saving and easy on the nerves of your neighbors.

  • Transfer switch: Maximum capacity at the mains interface. The integrated 100A transfer switch of the Victron Quattro 48/8000 transfers up to 23 kW of power from the mains to your devices without any loss. This allows you to power your entire home with confidence, while in the background the batteries are charged at top speed for the next emergency.

Planning security from a professional for your system with a Victron Quattro 48V

A system with an output of 8000 or 15000 VA is not something you plan on the spur of the moment. Huge currents flow here. The correct fuse protection, cable cross-sections and programming of the control relays (e.g. for automatic generator start) require expert knowledge.

This is exactly where we at Verkauf-Bochum.de are your partner. We don't just sell you the inverter, we support you in the design of your entire power plant. We make sure that your Victron Energy Quattro system does exactly what it is supposed to do: work without compromise.

FAQs from the field: What customers ask us about the Quattro 48V

Can I operate a Quattro 48V without a GX device (such as Cerbo GX)?

Theoretically yes, but we strongly advise against it. Without a GX device, you are giving away the intelligence of the system. Only the control panel makes the interaction with lithium batteries and remote monitoring really safe and convenient.

Why should I choose 48V and not 24V?

The currents at 24V become extremely high at outputs above 5000 VA. This requires bulky, thick cables and leads to high losses. 48V is more efficient, safer and the standard for almost all modern storage systems.

Do I necessarily need external NA protection (Ziehl) for operation in Germany?

This depends entirely on the model. According to the technical guideline (VDE-AR-N 4105), "single-fault-tolerant" mains isolation is prescribed in Germany for ESS systems (mains parallel).

  • Quattro 8k, 10k and 15k: These power packs only have simple internal insulation protection per input. This alone is not sufficient for the German standard. Therefore, these models must be installed with external NA protection (such as the Ziehl UFR1001E) and two additional contactors for mains parallel operation.

  • Quattro-II 5000: This model has a more modern design and is often already certified internally (similar to the MultiPlus-II).

Important for you: The installation of external NA protection is technically demanding. We at Verkauf-Bochum.de will assist you with system planning and ensure that you receive exactly the components you need for smooth acceptance by your network operator.

What happens if my generator supplies an incorrect voltage?

The Quattro is very robust, but it protects your sensitive devices. If the generator voltage fluctuates too much, it disconnects. However, it can be programmed to work with "difficult" generators.
