Saving money here means saving in the wrong place. A professional 19-inch battery cabinet, often referred to as a "Pylontech rack" or "server cabinet for battery storage", solves four crucial problems at once:
Uncompromising safety & statics A single LiFePO4 module often weighs over 50 kg. Our battery cabinets are made of a robust steel construction (SPCC) with an enormous load capacity of up to 1000 kg. They offer a firm stand, are lockable and protect your valuable batteries from unauthorized access and mechanical damage. For installers and end customers, this is a decisive factor for acceptance safety and insurance cover.
Optimized thermal management Lithium batteries generate heat during operation. Heat is their biggest enemy and leads to reduced performance and premature ageing. Our battery cabinets ensure continuous air circulation with perforated mesh doors and passive ventilation grilles. This ensures that waste heat is effectively dissipated and your batteries always operate within the optimum temperature window.
Clean cable management A professional system needs clean cabling. Our racks offer dedicated feed-throughs for thick battery cables (25mm² - 50mm²) and enable an orderly, traceable installation. This makes commissioning and future maintenance work much easier.
Modular & service-friendly design The standardized 19-inch width guarantees compatibility with most leading storage brands (e.g. Voltsmile, Pytes). The difference: PV operating cabinet vs. fire protection storage cabinet
It is important to understand: A 19-inch battery cabinet, such as the one we offer for the operation of PV systems, is not a fire protection cabinet in accordance with the F90 standard.
Our battery cabinets (operation) are designed for optimum performance and safety during operation. The focus is on statics, cooling and protection against accidental contact.
Fire protection cabinets (storage), often with F30 or F90 certification in accordance with EN 14470-1, are designed for the passive, fire-resistant storage of (often unused or defective) lithium-ion batteries. They are relevant in the commercial sector for compliance with insurance and storage regulations (TRGS 510).
For the normal and safe operation of a certified home storage system, a professional 19-inch rack like ours is the correct and intended solution.

FAQ for planners & installers who want to buy a battery cabinet
Can I use a normal server cabinet for my PV batteries?
Theoretically yes, but with decisive disadvantages. Most server cabinets have a much lower load capacity and are not designed for the heavy weight of six or more battery modules. You would have to retrofit heavy-duty shelves or L-rails. Our battery cabinets are designed as heavy-duty cabinets from the outset.
What does the indication "20U" or "30U" mean?
"U" (or "HE" for height unit) is the standard unit of measurement for the height of 19-inch devices. A 20U cabinet offers 20 of these height units (44.45 mm each) of usable mounting space.
How many height units do I need per battery?
A good rule of thumb is: height of the battery module in U + at least 1U buffer for air circulation. A Pytes E-Box module, for example, has approx. 2.6 U. So for 6 modules you need at least 16 U, plus buffer. A 20U or 22U cabinet is the ideal choice here.
Are there also battery cabinets for outdoor use?
Yes, there are special outdoor cabinets with a high IP protection class (e.g. IP55). The models we offer are designed for indoor use (cellar, plant room) with protection class IP20.
