Ruuvi Air
Making clean air a daily habit
Despite its importance to wellbeing, air quality is often overlooked. While we monitor sleep and stress with smart devices, the air we breathe indoors usually goes unnoticed - even though it can directly affect our energy, mood, sleep quality and concentration.
With Ruuvi Air and the intuitive Ruuvi app, you get a better understanding of how everyday life affects your indoor environment - and how even small changes can have a big impact.
Introduction: Ruuvi Air
Ruuvi Air contains all the essential sensors for measuring air quality as well as the Ruuvi Indoor Air Quality Score (IAQS), which shows you at a glance how healthy the indoor air is. All measured values are transmitted directly to your mobile device.
The Ruuvi Station mobile app allows you to:
-
display the current air quality status,
-
Real-time measurements of all parameters,
-
detailed individual values,
-
and historical diagrams.
You can set individual alerts to notify you as soon as critical limit values are reached. In addition, the app offers customized recommendations for action based on your measurement results in order to make targeted improvements.
You can also read the air quality status directly on the device via a color-coded LED display. The color corresponds to the Ruuvi Indoor Air Quality Score, which is also displayed in the app.
Ruuvi Indoor Air Quality Score (IAQS)
The Ruuvi Indoor Air Quality Score is a single value between 0 and 100 that summarizes the quality of your indoor air. It is based on two key factors:
-
Particulate matter (PM2.5)
-
Carbon dioxide (CO₂)
The higher the value, the better the air quality.
Integrated sensors (7-in-1)
Carbon dioxide (CO₂)
-
Unit: ppm
-
Typical accuracy:
-
±50 ppm + 2.5 % (400-1000 ppm)
-
±50 ppm + 3 % (1001-2000 ppm)
-
±40 ppm + 5 % (2001-5000 ppm)
-
-
Measuring range: 0-40,000 ppm
High CO₂ values can cause tiredness and reduce concentration. The monitoring shows you when it makes sense to ventilate.
Particulate matter (PM)
-
Unit: µg/m³
-
Typical accuracy:
-
PM1 & PM2.5: ±5 µg/m³ + 5 % (0-100 µg/m³), ±10 % (100-1000 µg/m³)
-
PM4 & PM10: ±25 µg/m³ (0-100 µg/m³), ±25 % (100-1000 µg/m³)
-
-
Measuring range: 0-1000 µg/m³
Fine particles can enter the lungs unnoticed and affect your health. The sensor shows how clean your air actually is.
VOC (volatile organic compounds)
The VOC index mimics human odor perception and shows the relative intensity compared to the recent measurement history. It also reacts to odorless VOCs, but cannot distinguish between them.
-
Scale: 0-500
-
The reference value is 100
-
>100: increased VOC exposure (e.g. through cooking, cleaning, breathing)
-
<100: lower VOC exposure (e.g. through fresh air or air purifiers)
-
NOx (nitrogen oxides)
-
NOx index: 1-500
NOx compounds are mainly produced by traffic and combustion processes. They can irritate the respiratory tract and significantly worsen air quality, especially in urban areas.
Temperature
-
Units: °C, °F, K
-
Typical accuracy: ±0.45 °C (15-30 °C)
Temperature affects comfort, energy consumption and is a key component of indoor air quality.
Humidity
-
Relative humidity (%), absolute humidity (g/m³), dew point
-
Typical accuracy: ±4.5 % (30-70 %)
Humidity affects breathing, sleep quality and even the building fabric. Air that is either too dry or too humid can be problematic.
Air pressure
-
Units: Pa, hPa, mmHg, inHg
-
Accuracy: ±1 hPa
-
Measuring range: 500-1155 hPa
Changes in air pressure can influence our well-being and help us to better understand other environmental changes.
