Beschreibung
Similar to the MultiPlus, the Quattro is a combined inverter and charger. Additionally, it can accept two AC inputs and automatically connect to the active source. Its many features include a true sine wave inverter, adaptive charging, hybrid PowerAssist technology, and several system integration features such as three-phase, split-phase, and parallel operation.

Two AC inputs and two AC outputs

The Quattro can be connected to two independent AC sources, such as shore power and a generator or two generators. The Quattro automatically connects to the active source. The main output has a no-break functionality. In the event of a mains failure or interruption of shore or generator power, the Quattro takes over the supply to the connected loads. This happens so quickly (less than 20 milliseconds) that computers and other electronic devices continue to operate without interruption. The second output is only active when AC power is available at one of the Quattro's inputs. This output can be used to connect loads that should not drain the battery, such as an air conditioner or water heater.

Unique PowerAssist function

The Quattro prevents overloading of a limited AC power source, such as a generator or shore power connection. First, the battery charge is automatically reduced when an overload would otherwise occur. The second stage increases the output of a generator or shore-side supply of power from the battery.

Virtually unlimited power thanks to parallel operation

Up to 6 Quattros can be operated in parallel for increased power. Three-phase or split-phase operation is also possible. Please check our datasheets to see which models have parallel, three-phase and split-phase capabilities.

Remote monitoring and control

When used in conjunction with a GX unit (e.g. Cerbo GX), the free VRM app and Free VRM Portal website allow you to monitor and control your multi and system(s) locally (LAN) or remotely via the Internet from anywhere in the world. Access can be from a phone, tablet, laptop or PC running a wide variety of operating systems. There is no end to the control options, from setting up your Quattro to automatically starting a backup generator and more..."

FAQ

Victron Quattro 12V: The ultimate energy center for your yacht or expedition vehicle

You are planning an uncompromising 12V power system. You don't just have one power source, but several - shore power in the harbor, a generator at sea, maybe even both. You need a control center that not only masters this complexity, but also manages it intelligently. A conductor for your personal power plant on board.

The Victron Quattro 12V was developed precisely for this demanding requirement. It is far more than just a powerful 12V inverter and a smart charger. It is the ultimate energy management center for yachts, large motorhomes and expedition vehicles and all self-sufficient systems where maximum reliability and flexibility are crucial.

The Quattro 12V superiority at a glance

  • Two AC inputs: the decisive feature. Connect shore power and a generator at the same time. The Quattro switches automatically and intelligently between the sources - perfect for marine and automotive use.

  • Intelligent PowerAssist: Is your port or campsite connection too weak? The Quattro "helps" with battery power from your 12V bank and reliably prevents the fuse from blowing.

  • Real UPS function: In the event of a power failure, the Quattro takes over the power supply in less than 20 milliseconds. Your navigation and communication electronics continue to run without interruption.

  • Two AC outputs: Disconnect critical consumers (refrigerator, navigation electronics) from large consumers (boiler, air conditioning). This ensures that only the essentials are running in battery mode.

  • Extreme scalability: Do you need more power? Connect up to 6 Quattro 12V devices in parallel and achieve a huge output of up to 30 kVA (with the 5000 model).

  • Full system integration: Via the VE.bus and a GX device, the Quattro becomes the heart of your entire 12V Victron ecosystem, monitorable and controllable worldwide.

The 12V power leader: Victron Quattro 12/5000/220-100

When we talk about 12V systems, the Victron Quattro 5000 is the undisputed benchmark. It is the top end of what is technically sensible and feasible in the 12-volt world. This device was developed for users who want to bring "home comfort" to their yacht or expedition vehicle without having to switch to a 24V or 48V system.

The highlights of the 12V champion:

  • 4 kW of superior continuous power: while standard inverters drop out when operating an induction hob and coffee machine at the same time, this bolide delivers a constant 4,000 watts. It can handle loads that would normally require a shore power connection completely independently from your battery bank.

  • Superior 220A charging power: That's a real statement for 12V systems. When the generator is running or you are connected to shore power, this Quattro pumps up to 220 amps into your batteries. This allows you to fill even massive lithium storage systems in record time - minimizing the annoying generator runtime and saving valuable fuel.

  • Massive 10 kW peak load: the enormous "torque" for the start. With a peak output of 10,000 watts, the Quattro 5000 safely gets even the heaviest air conditioning compressors or electric anchor winches up and running. Where smaller devices immediately "malfunction" due to the high starting current, this power pack pulls through unimpressed.

The decisive difference on board: MultiPlus vs. Quattro

The most common question we are asked when planning complex 12V wiring systems is: "Do I need a MultiPlus or a Quattro?" The answer depends on your power sources.

  • A MultiPlus has one AC input (e.g. for shore power).

  • A Quattro has two independent AC inputs.

When is this important on board?
Imagine your yacht:

  • In the harbor you use the shore power (AC input 1).

  • When you leave the harbor, you switch on your generator if necessary (AC input 2).

The Quattro automatically detects the active source, prioritizes it and switches seamlessly. You don't have to switch anything manually. It is the intelligent manager for your complex energy sources.

The technological highlights in detail

The Quattro is not only a powerhouse, but also an intelligent energy manager. Two of its outstanding functions solve problems that occur in practice on a daily basis:

1. PowerAssist: More power than the socket can provide

Everyone knows the problem: the port only has a weak 6A connection, but your air conditioning system needs more starting current. The Quattro solves this elegantly: it recognizes the impending overload due to the shore power limitation, briefly reduces the battery charge and "boosts" the missing power from the battery.

2. two AC outputs for smart load management

The Quattro has two outputs.

  • AC-Out-1 (uninterruptible): This is where you connect all critical loads that always need to be running (navigation system, refrigerator, computer).

  • AC-Out-2 (switchable): This is where you connect the "luxury" consumers (hot water boiler, air conditioning). This output is only active when an external AC source (mains or generator) is present. This prevents your 12V battery from being accidentally drained by large consumers in stand-alone mode.

What do these figures mean for you?

Behind the technical data of the Victron Quattro 12/5000/220-100 lies pure sovereignty for your project.

  • Continuous power (4000 W): This is your insurance for the "household" on board. You can easily use the induction hob at full power while the hairdryer is running and the coffee machine is heating up. The Victron Quattro 5000 delivers this power 24/7.

  • Peak power (10,000 W): This is the decisive "starting torque". Even massive air conditioning compressors or a heavy electric anchor winch, which demand enormous currents for a short time when starting, are easily handled by this inverter. Where other devices switch off due to overload, the Quattro simply pulls through.

  • Max. Charging current (220 A): Massive time saving when charging your batteries. When your generator is running or you are in port, the Quattro 5000 pumps up to 220 amps into your 12V bank. This means that even a huge 400 Ah lithium battery bank can go from almost empty to fully charged in less than two hours. This saves fuel and is easy on your nerves.

  • Transfer switch (2x 100 A): The load capacity of your central switching point. Thanks to the 100 A transfer switches, this model can transfer huge amounts of energy of up to 23 kW directly from the shore power or generator. So you can use all consumers on board at the same time while your batteries are being charged at top speed in the background.

The Victron ecosystem: from individual device to intelligent on-board network

A Quattro is never alone. It is designed to be the heart of a comprehensive, intelligent energy system. Via its central VE.Bus interface, it communicates seamlessly with the key components of the Victron ecosystem, which you can add on a modular basis:

  • The controller (Cerbo GX & GX devices):
The Cerbo GX is the brain of your entire system. It collects the data from your Quattro, visualizes it and makes it available worldwide via the VRM portal (Victron Remote Management).

  • Monitoring (battery monitors & shunts):
A BMV or SmartShunt precisely measures the state of charge of your battery and provides the system with the necessary data for intelligent energy management.

  • Operation (displays & panels):
With a Digital Multi Control Panel or a GX Touch Display, you can control and monitor important functions such as shore power limitation directly on site.
