A MultiPlus, plus ESS (Energy Storage System) function

The MultiPlus-Il is a multifunctional inverter/charger with all the functions of the MultiPlus and an additional function, namely that of an external current sensor. This extends the PowerControl and PowerAssist functions to 50 A and 100 A respectively. The MultiPlus-Il is ideally suited for professional seafaring, yachts, vehicles and land-based, off-grid applications. It also has an integrated function to protect against islanding. Several different system configurations are possible. Further information can be found in the ESS Design & Configuration manual.

PowerControl and PowerAssist - increasing grid or generator power
A maximum grid or generator current can be set. The MultiPlus-Il then takes other AC loads into account and only uses the current that is still "left over" to charge the battery. This prevents the generator or mains connection from being overloaded (PowerControl function).
The PowerAssist function adds a new dimension to the PowerControl principle. Load peaks often only occur for a limited period of time. In such cases, the MultiPlus-Il immediately compensates for insufficient generator, shore power or mains power with energy from the battery. If the load is reduced, the "surplus" energy can be used to charge the batteries.

Solar power: alternating current even in the event of a grid failure
The MultiPlus-Il can be used with both non-grid-connected and grid-connected PV systems as well as other alternative energy systems. It can be used with both solar charge controllers and grid-connected inverters.

Two AC outputs
The main output ensures uninterrupted operation. In the event of a mains failure or an interruption in the shore/generator current, the MultiPlus-Il takes over the supply to the connected loads. Switching takes place so quickly (in less than 20 milliseconds) that uninterrupted operation of computers and other electronic devices is guaranteed.
The second output only supplies power if alternating current is available at the input of the MultiPlus-Il. Loads that must not discharge the battery, such as a water heater, can be connected to this output. The loads connected to the second output are taken into account by the PowerControl and PowerAssist function.

Virtually unlimited power thanks to parallel and three-phase operation
Up to six multis can be connected in parallel if there is a high power requirement. In addition to the parallel connection, three units of the same model can also be configured for a three-phase output. But that's not all: up to 6 sets of three devices can be connected in parallel

On-site system configuration, monitoring and control
Settings can be changed in minutes using the VEConfigure software (requires a computer or laptop and an MK3 USB interface). Several monitoring and control options are available: Ekrano GX, Cerbo GX, Venus GX, laptop, computer, Bluetooth (with optional VE.Bus Smart Dongle), battery monitor, Digital Multi Control.

Remote configuration and monitoring
Install a Cerbo GX or other GX products to connect to the internet. The operating data can be stored and viewed free of charge on our VRM (Victron Remote Management) website. If systems are connected to the Internet, they can be accessed remotely and settings can be changed.

What battery capacity is recommended?

With 250 A charging current and up to 400 A discharging current, we recommend a lithium capacity of at least 40 kWh to 60 kWh, preferably more, in order to operate the battery cells in the optimum range.

Is the MultiPlus 20k loud?

The device has powerful fans to cool the massive electronics. The appliance is clearly audible under full load. We recommend installation in a separate technical room or cellar.
