In the world of batteries, there are many products and, above all, alternatives that often offer more amp hours for less money. However, the cheaper solution is not always the best in practice. Victron Energy has established itself as a pioneer in the industry and offers solutions that are also convincing in demanding environments. There are two different series of lithium batteries in the Victron Energy product range: Smart Lithium and SuperPack. The SuperPack variants offer an "all in one" solution. These are "exchange batteries", which means that they can be directly exchanged for lead batteries (gel/AGM). The battery management system (BMS) is integrated and several batteries can be connected in parallel.
The SMART Lithium series have a 2-part BMS, cell balancing and the entire sensor system is installed in the battery. The protective circuitry takes place outside the battery with different BMS systems depending on the application. This battery performs much better and is not limited in performance by the BMS. The battery is suitable for the construction of small and large battery banks in 12/24/48V. To ensure optimum charging in such systems, these powerful batteries are often combined with a Victron MPPT solar charge controller or a Victron DC-DC charge booster.
In the following article, we explain the advantages of Victron batteries with LifePO4 and BMS in practical use.

Whether in the solar industry or in leisure companions such as motorhomes and boats, Victron Energy's LiFePO4 batteries have proven to be the perfect choice. They offer numerous advantages compared to conventional lead-acid batteries.
Victron Energy has developed a diverse range of battery models with different capacities and voltages. In order to meet the needs of different applications, the true strength of the various Victron series is demonstrated by a modular design system. A perfect symbiosis of energy efficiency and advanced technology.

Victron Energy offers batteries with an integrated or external battery management system (BMS). The BMS is an important component in lithium batteries as it enables battery monitoring and control to ensure optimum performance and safety.
Victron Energy's BMS offers various functions and protection mechanisms, including:
Victron batteries with BMS are available in various capacities and voltages and can be used in a wide range of applications, including solar power, RVs, boats and other on- and off-grid systems.

In our online store you will find various sets from Victron Energy, which include everything from the battery to the inverter, the communication center and connection cables. We have developed these sets to offer simple integration, compatibility and a powerful complete solution. Victron Energy's battery sets are available for various applications and energy needs, such as for use in motorhomes, boats, solar systems or on- and off-grid systems.
Victron Energy is a Dutch company that was founded in 1973. It is headquartered in Almere, the Netherlands. The company operates internationally and has offices and distributors all over the world.
Victron Energy has an unrivaled reputation for technical innovation, reliability and quality and is a world leader in the field of independent power supplies. Product development, marketing and sales of Victron products are carried out in the Netherlands. Manufacturing takes place in the Netherlands, India, Malaysia and China. The production facilities work to high quality standards and specialize in the production of energy solutions such as inverters, chargers, batteries and other electronic components.
At Victron Energy, the charging cycle is divided into three main phases: Bulk (fast charge) - Absorption - Float (float charge).
Bulk is the first phase of the charging cycle, which aims to charge the battery quickly. During the bulk phase, the battery is charged with a high charging current in order to charge it quickly and increase its capacity. In this phase, the charging current is maximum while the battery voltage gradually increases. The purpose of this phase is to bring the battery to a certain state of charge as quickly as possible.
During the absorption phase, the battery voltage is kept at a constant level while the charging current gradually decreases. In this phase, the remaining energy requirements of the battery are absorbed in order to fully charge it. This is done by increasing the voltage to a fixed value and maintaining this value for a certain time. This allows the battery to be fully charged before it enters the float phase (charge retention mode). In this phase, the battery maintains its full state of charge. The duration of these phases varies from product to product and is adaptable.
